Cape Island Boat
The Cape Island boat is characterized as having distinctivly high bows ,a long, broad, open workspace, and is low to the sea. Is is constructed in different size, mainly from 30' to 50'. The are found all over the atlantic cost of the provinces.
The Cape Island boat was created, as the story goes, by Ephraim Atkinson around 1905. In 1905, he was approached by a man from St. John, New Brunswick to build a power boat. He fit an engine that was supplied by the man into a boat, that was possible designed by the man. After this, Atkinson created another powered boat, that was simular in design to the previous one, this boat was considered the first "Cape Island" boat created.
