 Regular Session

Town Council

January 06, 2021

 

 

The regular session of Town Council was called to order by Mayor Stoddart at 6:59 pm with Councillor Quinlan, Councillor Link, Councillor Baker, and Councillor Atkinson in attendance. 

 

 

ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA:

APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA:

 

            It was moved by Councillor Atkinson, seconded by Councillor Quinlan to approve the agenda as circulated.  Motion carried unanimously.     

          

 

APPROVAL OF THE PREVIOUS MINUTES:

 

            It was moved by Councillor Quinlan and seconded by Councillor Link to approve the previous minutes. Motion Carried unanimously.

 

 

APPOINTMENTS:  None  

 


MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES: None

 


 

 

REPORTS

 

Streets, Sewers and Unsightly Premises:

                         Public Works Report was presented to Council.

            3 pumps have been ordered for the lift station maintenance.

Recreation:

 

Building Inspectors Report:  December 0 permits

                                                

          

            Mayor/Councillors:

                        Councillor Quinlan and Councillor Baker gave reports of recent meeting they attended.

                      

                                              

CORRESPONDENCE:  None

                      

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

                        Region 6 2021-2022 Proposed budget

            The clerk distributed to Councillors the proposed budget for 2021-2022 fiscal year.

Clark’s Harbour share of the budget is $605.77 for 21-22. Last year’s share was $669.07.

            It was moved by Councillor Quinlan and seconded by Councillor Link that the Region 6 2021-2022 proposed Budget be approved. Motion carried unanimously.

            

 

                        Western regional Housing Authority Board:         

            It was moved by Councillor Quinlan and seconded by Councillor Baker to Nominate Marlene Smith for an additional 1 year term on the Western Regional Housing Authority Board. Motion carried unanimously.

 

                        Playground:

            New equipment was discussed for the playground and it was decided that council would plan for a new piece of equipment for the spring.

 

                        Ballpark Washroom:

            During the past 2 months the washrooms at the ballpark have been vandalized badly. Doors have been kicked in and the inside of the washrooms badly damaged.

            It was asked by Mayor Stoddard to Councillors if they wished to continue to use the washrooms or rent a port-a-potty for next season. Councillors decided to repair the washrooms and use them next season.

            Treatment plant

          

            The trusses have been delivered for the roof at the treatment plant. It was noted by Mayor Stoddard that the remaining portion of the roof is now leaking also. Mayor Stoddard asked Council if they wished to repair the entire roof with Metal roofing.

            It was moved by Councillor Atkinson and seconded by Councillor Quinlan that the entire roof be repaired at the same time with metal roofing and the work being done by public works staff. Motion carried unanimously.

 

          

            Heritage Hall Roof:

 Tom McDonell contacted Mayor Stoddard asking if Council would help with the extra billing that was received from Nova Scotia Power during the installation of the roof at the Heritage Hall. He had paid the bill that was received to which he thought was the only one. A second large bill was received. Mayor Stoddard is trying to get into contact with NSP to get the details and breakdown of the bill, emails have been sent and phone calls both gone unanswered so far.

Mayor Stoddard will report to Council the findings at the next regular meeting of Council so they may be able to have more information to make a decision.

 


Additions to the Agenda:

 

 

            Matthew Swim:

 

            It was moved by Councillor Baker and seconded by Councillor Link that a $200 donation be made from the town of Clark’s Harbour in memory of former Councillor Matthew Swim to a charity of the families choice. Motion carried unanimously.

 

As there was no further business at 8:20 pm the meeting was adjourned.
