 Regular Session

Town Council

March 2, 2022

                                                                                                                                            

 

The Regular Session was called to order by Mayor Stoddard at 7:10 pm with Councilors Trudy Quinlan, Irene Baker, Louann Link and Russell Atkinson present.

 

ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA:

 

               There were no additions to the agenda.

 

APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA:

 

                It was moved by Councilor Quinlan and seconded by Councilor Link that the Agenda be approved as circulated. Motion carried unanimously.

 

APPROVAL OF THE PREVIOU MINUTES:

 

                It was moved by Councilor Atkinson and seconded by Councilor Link that the Minutes from the previous meetings be approved as circulated. Motion carried unanimously.

 

APPOINTMENTS:

 

                There were no appointments.

 

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES:

 

                 There no matters arising from the Minutes to discuss.

 

REPORTS:

 

 Streets, Sewers and Unsightly Premises:

                  The Public Works Report was presented to Council and discussed.

 

Recreation;

                   Nothing to report.

 

Building Inspector Report:

                    There were no Building Permits issued in February.

Mayor/Councilors:

                     Mayor Stoddard and Councilor Quinlan reported to Council on meetings that they attended.

 

CORRESPONDENCE:

 

                     Municipal Modernization:

                 

                     Council discussed the issue of municipal unification, amalgamation and dissolving.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

                     Island and Barrington Fire Department:

                

                      The 2022/2023 budget for the Island and Barrington Fire Department was presented to Council. There was a slight increase in the Town’s cost over the previous year. It was moved by Councilor Baker and seconded by Councilor Quinlan the 2022/2023 budget for the Island and Barrington Fire Department be approved as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

 

                       2022/2023 Donations:

 

                       Council discussed the requests for donations for 2022/2023. It was moved by Councilor Baker and seconded by Councilor Atkinson that the list of donations be approved during discussions. Motion carried unanimously.

 

                        NSFM Municipal Changes:

 

                        Council discussed whether the Town wished to put forward any issues to the NSFM.

 

                        Town Clerk: 

 

                        With the new Town Clerk starting to work shortly, it was moved by Councilor Atkinson and seconded by Councilor Link that Tammy Atwood be removed as the Town’s Development Officer and Traffic Control and that her signing authority be revoked. Motion carried unanimously. It was further moved by Councilor Quinlan and seconded by Councilor Baker that Jennifer Jones be approved for signing authority and that she be appointed Development Officer and Traffic Control Officer. Motion carried unanimously.

                         Municipality of Barrington:

 

                         A proposal was received from the Municipality of Barrington indicating the recreational activities that the Barrington Recreation Department would be willing to carry out in the Town during the summer months. Council discussed the proposal.

 

As it was 8:20 pm and there was no further business, it was moved by Councilo Baker and seconded by Councilor Atkinson that meeting be adjourned. Motion carried unanimously.
